The IBRI says the organizations have formed a strategic alliance that will allow collaboration on projects "relevant to their respective missions."
The IBRI and IN3 recently signed a memorandum of understanding in which the partners would work together to secure funding for projects, share facilities for research and development, and leverage each other’s network of collaborators.
"Since both institutes have common stakeholders, including the state of Indiana, Indiana’s research universities and several others, it makes sense for us to work closely together on existing and new projects where our stakeholders are already involved," said Rainer Fischer, chief executive officer of the IBRI. "We can achieve results faster and more efficiently by helping industry and academia to collaborate in these efforts, which is our mission."
The IBRI says some of the projects involved in the partnership could include trusted microelectronics, especially related to biomedical applications, big data analytics, and biomedical sensors such as deployable Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear wearable sensors.
General Gene Renuart, chairman and CEO of IN3, says the partnership adds another level of expertise in Indiana to help solve a number of technical challenges that impact lives every day. He says partnerships of this kind are essential in creating scientific and technical breakthroughs.
