The Daily Reporter in Greenfield reports Skip Kuker passed away at Hancock Regional Hospital after a five-year battle with cancer. He was 55.
Kuker was initially diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer in 2013, about a year after becoming executive director of the HEDC. He announced his retirement in November and was succeeded in January by former Hancock County Council member Randy Sorrell.
Kuker’s death was confirmed to the Daily Reporter Sunday by Greenfield Mayor Chuck Fewell.
"He fought this battle a long time," Fewell told the publication. "He gave it a heck of a fight."
In 2017, Kuker received the Sagamore of the Wabash, one of the state’s highest honors. Funeral arrangements for Kuker have not yet been announced.
