Nonprofit to Open Human Trafficking Support Center
Syracuse-based Destiny Rescue, an international nonprofit that works to help children who have been affected by human trafficking, is opening a support center in Fort Wayne. The organization worked to rescue more than 1000 children from sexual exploitation and slavery in 2018.
The nonprofit operates in Thailand, Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines and India. Destiny Rescue also has regional offices in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
Since 2011, the organization has rescued more than 2000 children enslaved around the world. Its focus is to implement prevention programs and raise awareness about human trafficking.
“The move to Fort Wayne will allow us to be more effective and efficient in our work which will allow us to rescue and restore even more children in the future,” US CEO Kirk Falconer said in an interview with WOWO. “After discussing multiple options with our board, it was obvious that the best place for us to continue to expand and grow was Fort Wayne. The growth that is happening in the region is exciting, and we are looking forward to being a part of the community for many years to come.”
Destiny Rescue plans to have the new Support Center on Dupont Road up and running by the end of January 2019.
