Cedarhurst Project Approved in Dyer
Officials in Dyer have approved plans for a $10 million assisted living/memory care facility in the Lake County town. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report work on the Cedarhurst Development Project is expected to begin after the holidays.
An affiliate of Indianapolis-based Avenue Development LLC acquired five acres of land near Central Park Avenue and Calumet Avenue for the 73-bed facility. The company also recently exercised an option to buy an additional 15 acres nearby, which will likely include various healthcare facilities, according to the publication.
The project is being funded in part by more than $1.5 million in economic development bonds, which will help with infrastructure efforts for the project, such as roadways, a roundabout, storm sewers and sanitary sewers. The town’s redevelopment commission has also agreed to cover up to $100,000 in infrastructure-related costs that exceed the bonds.
Town Manager Tom DeGiulio tells The Times the development will be positive for the town and other nearby areas are available for additional development, which will likely include retail and office space.
