Crane Army Ammunition Activity will cut the ribbon on the multi-million-dollar Crane Flexible Manufacturing Complex.
Radius Indiana, the economic development partnership representing eight counties in the region, says the complex encompasses 46 acres with three main production buildings and several support buildings dedicated to advanced manufacturing. The CFMC will initially provide manufacturing space for the M1122 artillery round, which "processes old conventional munition rounds and reuses the shells to create low-cost training projectiles for the Army."
Radius says the new complex brings this process into one area to improve operations. Production at the CFMC is expected to be fully functional and operational by 2019.
