Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has named Rob Coons its next president. He previously served as senior vice president and was appointed acting president following Jim Conwell’s resignation earlier this month. Coons was also interim president prior to Conwell’s arrival and has held positions at Rose-Hulman including chief administrative officer, controller and vice president for business and finance during a nearly 30-year career at the Terre Haute campus.

Board Chair Niles Noblitt says "Rob is well prepared for this key leadership role, and the Board of Trustees has full confidence that he is the right person to keep Rose-Hulman moving forward in meeting its future challenges. Rob has earned the respect of trustees, faculty, staff and alumni, and many encouraged the trustees to select him."

The school says Coons was a key player in the framework and strategies involved in Rose-Hulman’s 2013-2018 strategic plan. The institute is in the middle of $250 million fundraising campaign that is slated to wrap up by December 2020.
