Reid Health Transforming Vacant Building Into PACE Center
Richmond-based Reid Health has acquired a former grocery store property with plans for redevelopment. The health system says it will remodel a portion of the County Market building into a Medicare-Medicaid center known as PACE, or Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly.
Financial terms of the project have not been released, however Reid Health expects to open the center by the end of 2019. The center will offer primary care, rehabilitation, adult day services, and transportation.
Reid Health says the goal of the center is to provide an alternative to nursing home care for people who are eligible but want to remain in their home as long as possible. Vice President Billie Kester says the health system’s service area, which includes Wayne, Fayette, Union, Henry, Randolph, and Franklin counties, has an increasingly aging population.
"This effort is in response to a growing need to provide a coordinated care option for community members who otherwise might require going to a nursing home or other care facility,” said Kester. "PACE centers are designed to meet very specific needs for certain community members, and we see this as a great addition to community services designed to keep eligible individuals living healthier and longer in their home environment."
The facility will be the first PACE center in east central Indiana.
