Indy Company Hosting Esports Tournament

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

An Indianapolis-based software company will Saturday host its inaugural Nocturnal esports tournament. Challonge says the event, taking place at The Union 525 in downtown Indy, will feature gamers of all ages and skill levels competing for cash prizes.

Challonge says registered participants can complete two 64-person tournaments for popular games Fortnite and Soulcalibur VI. Each tournament will pay out a total of $1,500 to the top finishers. Attendees can also register simply to watch or participate in casual esports play.

"We are thrilled to bring the fast-growing esports community in Indianapolis together and further ignite the excitement," said Matt McIntyre, chief executive officer of Challonge. "Esports is projected to be a $1.65 billion industry by 2020 and more brands and institutions are taking note. It's a meaningful time to introduce and grow an event that unites and educates local entities with local gamers all while benefiting a great cause."

A portion of the proceeds from the Nocturnal event will benefit Video Game Palooza, a local nonprofit that aims to motivate interest in STEM through video games. You can learn more about the event and how to register by clicking here.
