Multiply Resources founder Craig Dereka says the second floor of the facility will be converted into an "impact ecosystem" geared toward entrepreneurs in social, faith-based and impact-focused fields. In addition to coworking and office space, the vision for the yet-to-be-named hub could also include creative, legal, financial and acceleration services.
In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Dereka said the space and organization will help feed a growing movement. "What I’m seeing more and more — and it’s very true on the corporate side of things — is people want more than just the ‘nine-to-five,’" he said. "When Millennials or the new generation is starting a company, it’s not just about ‘how much money can I make,’ it is about ‘how can my time being spent on what I’m doing day-to-day impact the most lives around my state or country or even the world?’ And we want to help foster that culture and help support that mindset and we feel things are just getting started here in Indy regarding that."
Dereka says organizations in cities like Seattle, Chicago and Cincinnati are already building an environment where impact-minded businesses and organizations can launch, but central Indiana has room to grow. "I’m just seeing some foundations being built here in Indy where we could become an inspiration to other cities throughout the country."
Multiply Resources, Dereka says, is being built so that each portion of the nonprofit is self-sustainable to boost longevity. Additional details of the space including its name and the timeline for launch will be unveiled November 8 during the Multiply Resources Multiply Conference in Carmel. Dereka says some early private investors are already on-board, but additional partners providing resources will be announced at the event. The space could open mid-2019.
