Busch currently serves as an at-large member of the Allen County Council.
Long, who has served in the Senate for 22 years, announced his resignation in February. In a statement provided to Inside INdiana Business, Long said, "I’ve known Justin for quite a while, and he has a great track record of working successfully with others in both the public and private sectors. I think he will fit in quickly in the State Senate, and I am very excited for him and our district.”
The Indiana Republican Party announced in May that Sen. Rod Bray (R-32) would succeed long as president pro tem, a role Long has held for 12 years.
