AMayZing Food & Beverage LLC is looking to invest more than $30 million to acquire and equip a shell building in Franklin and add up to 150 jobs over the next four years.
Owner Timothy May spoke with our partners at the Daily Journal and said new location will serve as a production facility to make coffee under specific brands for new customers. The company makes cold brew coffee and nitro lattes in ready-to-drink cans that are then distributed to retailers and convenience stores, according to the publication.
The shell building itself remains under construction. City documents say AMayZing Food is investing $10.8 million to continue construction and expand the facility to encompass 100,000 square feet. The company will also invest $20 million for the necessary equipment to be housed in the building.
An economic development agreement currently being considered by the city says AMayZing Food will employ 50 people at the facility in its first year, then add 25 to 50 employees annually until it reaches the goal of 150 employees by 2022. The average hourly wage, without benefits, will be $20 and will increase annually, according to the company.
The company plans to have the first phase of the project operational by the second quarter of 2019, with the full 100,000-square-foot facility online in the first quarter of 2020.
Next week, the Franklin Redevelopment Commission is expected to vote on the economic development agreement, while the Franklin City Council will vote on two 10-year tax abatements for the project.
