More Cleanliness, Ride Recognition For Holiday World

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus has again received two awards presented by an industry publication. The 2018 Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today went to Holiday World for the cleanest park for the 19th consecutive year and to its Wildebeest for the top water park ride for the ninth year in a row.

The awards are determined through annual survey results by amusement park industry enthusiasts. Splashin' Safari was named the #2 Water Park in the world and the Mammoth water coaster was named the #2 Water Park Ride. The awards were presented this weekend during an event hosted by the publication in Branson, Missouri.

      Purdue Launches Degree+ Program

      The College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University has unveiled a program aimed at helping students complete two bachelor's degrees without extending their time to graduate. The program, known as Degree+, allows students outside of the college to complete a bachelor's degree in their chosen major while also adding a liberal arts degree.

      Steel Dynamics Completes Acquisition

      Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. (Nasdaq: STLD) has completed its $5 million acquisition of Kentucky Electric Steel. The company says as part of the deal, it plans to reopen the KES rolling mill in Ashland, Kentucky in November.

      AM General Wins $560M Humvee Contract

      A major contract has been awarded to South Bend-based AM General LLC. The more than $560 million deal involves production of 2,800 Humvee ambulances. The first vehicles, AM General says, are expected to be delivered in the second quarter of next year. U.S. Army Contracting Command in Warren, Michigan is the contracting activity.
