HUD Funding Secured For Disabled Housing
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded nearly $1 million to Indiana public housing authorities to provide permanent housing for those with disabilities. The funding is included in HUD’s Section 811 Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher Program.
The program is designed to advance the objectives of the Americans With Disabilities Act, with a total of nearly $99 million awarded to 285 local public housing agencies across the country.
The Indiana recipients are:
Fort Wayne Housing Authority- $237,653
Kokomo Housing Authority- $93,011
Indianapolis Housing Agency- $348,632
Housing Authority of the City of Lafayette- $185,027
Housing Authority of the City of Portland- $87,588
The voucher program provides funding to specifically help non-elderly persons with disabilities who are at serious risk of homelessness or institutionalization, and others transitioning from separated settings. A full list of recipients can be found here.
