Chamber to Remain Neutral on Donnelly-Braun Race
The Indiana Chamber will not make an endorsement in the U.S. Senate contest between Senator Joe Donnelly and businessman Mike Braun. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Brinegar says, while both align with the chamber on some issues, there are enough "notable areas of disagreement" that the organization decided to remain neutral.
Brinegar says the chamber made the decision after its congressional affairs committee, made up of volunteer business leaders from throughout the state, interviewed both candidates and had a "robust discussion" about an endorsement. The chamber says there are important policy stances in areas including trade, tariffs, health care and fiscal policy where the candidates are not in line with its policy positions.
The Indiana Chamber has only considered federal endorsements for about 10 years. It has made endorsements in Indiana’s last three Senate races, none of which had an incumbent running.
