One of the largest automotive swap meets in the United States is underway in Evansville. The 44th Annual Frog Follies is expected to draw about 10,000 people and more than 4,000 street rods.

The annual event began in 1975, founded by the E’ville Iron Street Rod Club as a rod run for street rod owners. Organizers say it has grown from 44 registered street rods at the first event to an average of more than 4,000 per year. Since its first year, the event has drawn entries from 49 states, Australia and Canada. As of 2010, Frog Follies leaders say they have been able to bill the event as "the largest PRE 49 Street Rod event anywhere in the world."

The E’ville Iron Street Rod Club continues to organize the event. The organization says, over the years, it has donated more than $2 million to local charities. It says it has also provided scholarships over the last decade so high school graduates from the tri-state area can train for a career in the automotive industry.

The 44th Annual Frog Follies runs through Sunday at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center in Evansville.
