Hobart Fire Department Scores Major Grant
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded a more than $860,000 grant to the Hobart Fire Department. The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response, or SAFER, grant will help the department hire new firefighters.
The amount is part of a total of nearly $7.5 million in grants awarded during the funding round earlier this month. Only one other fire department received more funding than the Hobart Fire Department.
"This federal grant will help keep Hobart families and businesses safer for years to come," said U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN). "This grant, in part, ensures that the department that it has the resources it needs to hire firefighters who do life-saving work every day in this community."
