After 17 years as chief executive officer of Indianapolis-based Bosma Enterprises, Lou Moneymaker has announced retirement plans. His last day leading the nonprofit that works to help Hoosiers who are blind or visually-impaired will be July 31. Prior to arriving at Bosma, Moneymaker spent 32 years in roles ranging from teacher to coach to dean of students at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Indianapolis.

Moneymaker was a founding leader of the United States Association of Blind Athletes, an organization in which he is still involved. During his tenure at Bosma, the nonprofit has grown from $2 million a year in business to $70 million a year in providing training and employment services for people experiencing vision loss.

Board chair Danielle Tucshong says "I would like to acknowledge Lou’s lifelong commitment to creating opportunities for people who are blind, and thank him for his leadership in this effort and at Bosma Enterprises. Lou has transformed Bosma Enterprises by expanding job opportunities at all levels of the company and expanding programs making the company the largest employer and service provider in Indiana solely focused on people experiencing vision loss. Our organization and leadership team have never been stronger. We wish Lou the very best in his retirement."

The graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis has earned degrees from Indiana University and Butler University. The Bosma board of directors says it expects to find Moneymaker’s successor prior to his retirement.
