Holcomb, IAC Name Governor’s Arts Award Recipients

Subscribe NowGovernor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Arts Commission have unveiled the recipients of the 2018 Governor’s Arts Awards. The honor recognizes "individuals, organizations, partnerships, businesses, and communities for significant contributions to the arts."
The awards are given every two years. IAC Executive Director Lewis Ricci says each of the recipients "has had a lasting impact in their community and on their discipline, and highlight the incredible talent and commitment to excellence inspired by, and nurtured in our state."
The 2018 recipients include:
- Gayle & the late Bill Cook, philanthropists, Bloomington, IN
- Sydney & Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
- Dr. F. Robert Sabol, arts educator & researcher, Crawfordsville, IN
- Rami Sadek & LangLab, arts entrepreneur & business, South Bend, IN
- Twyla Tharp, dancer, choreographer, director, author, New York, NY (formerly Portland, IN)
Additionally, Fort Wayne native Addison Agen will receive a special recognition as an emerging Indiana artist. She was the runner up last year on the NBC program "The Voice."
The governor and First Lady Janet Holcomb will present the awards during a special program October 19 at the Sweetwater Performance Theatre in Fort Wayne. Agen will perform an original song at the event.
