Several Indiana hospitals are included in this year’s list of the best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The publication ranks the hospitals on a state-by-state basis in addition to specialty categories, such as cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, and geriatrics.

The Indiana rankings have IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis at the top of the list. Deaconess Hospital in Evansville ranks second, while St. Vincent Medical Center of Evansville, IU Health West Hospital in Avon, and IU Health North Hospital in Carmel all tied for third.

IU Health University hospital, similar to last year’s rankings, is the only Indiana hospital to be included in some of the specialty lists. The hospital ranks 46th in Cancer, 46th in Cardiology & Heart Surgery, 30th in Diabetes & Endocrinology, 22nd in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, 28th in Geriatrics, 23rd in Nephrology, 27th in Neurology & Neurosurgery, and 39th in Pulmonology.

• Deaconess Hospital – Evansville
• St. Vincent Medical Center of Evansville – Evansville (tie, 3rd)
• IU Health West Hospital – Avon (tie, 3rd)
• IU Health North Hospital – Carmel (tie, 3rd)
• Franciscan St. Francis Health – Indianapolis (tie, 6th)
• St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital – Indianapolis (tie, 6th)
• Community Hospital – Munster (tie, 6th)
• Memorial Hospital of South Bend – South Bend (tie, 6th)
• Mishawaka Medical Center – Mishawaka – (tie, 6th)
• Parkview Regional Medical Center – Fort Wayne

This year’s "Honor Roll" featuring the top hospitals in the country does not feature any Hoosier institutions. That list is topped by The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for the third consecutive year, followed by the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
