Japanese Commerce Official Returning to Columbus
The Consul-General of Japan in Chicago will be in Bartholomew County Tuesday. Naoki Ito will deliver the keynote address at the 2018 Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. Annual Meeting at The Commons in downtown Columbus. The county is home to 28 Japanese-owned businesses connected to more than 5,500 Indiana jobs.
The EDC says Ito will discuss the importance of further developing relationships between Japan and communities throughout the Midwest. The consul-general’s first trip to Columbus came in November. He started in the commerce-focused position in February of last year. His responsibilities center on Japan’s interests in 10 midwestern states.
