Indiana University Northwest has appointed a dean for its newest school. David Klamen, who will lead the School of Arts, previously served the Gary campus in various roles for more than 20 years before leaving for a position on the East Coast two years ago.

Klamen is represented by studios in New York and Los Angeles and his work has been exhibited in collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. In his role as dean, Klamen will oversee a school that includes the Departments of Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Communication, as well as manage the university’s black box and proscenium theaters and two art galleries.

Klamen previously served as the associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the departments of Fine Arts and Performing Arts. He first came to IU Northwest in 1985.
