Results of a survey conducted by Terre Haute-based RJL Solutions also illustrated the desire among residents for the region to better promote itself.
The report was the work of RJL Solutions intern Anna Madden, who focused her research on the six-county region including Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties.
In addition to hundreds of surveys, the report also included recommendations from multiple focus groups. The five groups stressed the need for more county collaborations and a stronger focus on a regional brand, with a goal of determining "what exactly West Central Indiana means, geographically and in terms of its assets."
The Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce recently announced its West Central 2025 initiative, which will use the report to help move forward with its mission to advance the region. Chamber President David Haynes says the report shows "an excitement, energy and enthusiasm within communities and individuals from throughout our region."
