The group that represents 15 regional planning organizations throughout the state has a new executive director. Brian Long joins the Indiana Association of Regional Councils after a more than 40-year career that includes positions with the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, H. J. Umbaugh and Associates and multiple bond underwriters.

Long says his responsibilities include "working with Indiana’s local government officials as they work to improve Indiana and it’s many communities is very rewarding and as the new executive director of IARC I look forward to continue working with these dedicated officials in finding regional approaches to make life better for Hoosiers."

Member organizations include: Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, East Central Indiana Regional Planning District, Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, Kankakee – Iroquois Regional Planning Commission, Madison County Council of Governments, Michiana Area Council of Governments, Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council, Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission, Region III-A Economic Development District & Regional Planning Commission, River Hills Economic Development District & Regional Planning Commission, Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission, Southern Indiana Development Commission, West Central Indiana Economic Development District, North Central Indiana Regional Planning Council and Eastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.
