Mayor Joe Hogsett has appointed Brian Madison director of business and neighborhood services. He will help realize Mayor Hogsett’s vision to uplift all Indianapolis neighborhoods. Using his experience as a community and economic development professional, Madison will make it a top priority to ensure there are redevelopment and investment opportunities in every neighborhood across the city. Under his leadership, DBNS will seek to improve operations and streamline programs and services to businesses, contractors, developers, and residents. Working with Indianapolis Animal Care Services, DBNS will also look for new ways to protect and improve the quality of life of persons and animals in the city of Indianapolis.

Madison previously served as deputy director of property and land use services. He also previously served Indianapolis neighborhoods as director of development for the Indianapolis Housing Agency, assistant administrator for the Department of Metropolitan Development and Mayor’s Neighborhood Liaison under Mayor Peterson. Madison was also involved in the redevelopment of St. Clair Place – the housing component of the Super Bowl Legacy Project – during his time as the Director of Real Estate for Near East Area Renewal.

He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DePauw University.
