The Mind Trust has hired Tina Seymour as senior director of school support and Jordan Johnson as manager of school support. Both will support the nonprofit’s efforts to more than double the number of students attending high-quality public schools within the boundaries of Indianapolis Public Schools. Seymour will assist in The Mind Trust’s expansion of its school support strategy, which provides school-specific and city-wide training and support to network executives, school leaders, and teachers. She will implement, refine, and continue to develop a suite of supports that currently includes long-range strategic planning, executive coaching for network leaders, deep instructional systems support, and capacity-building for schools seeking to grow.

Seymour brings more than 20 years of experience in education to her new role, having served as head of school of Northview Middle School in Washington Township, a nationally-recognized International Baccalaureate World School. In 2014, she became founder and president of Strategic Learning Solutions, an association of educators that provides educational consulting and professional development to K-16 schools. She earned a B.A. in Secondary Education from the University of Indianapolis and an M.S. in Educational Administration from Butler University.

Johnson will coordinate communications and events with schools and other education organizations, monitor changes in state policy, and ensure alignment between The Mind Trust’s school supports work and other focus areas. Previously, she served as a legislative fellow with the Indiana State Board of Education, where she analyzed a variety of public policy issues impacting K-12 education in Indiana and helped brief members of the board. Prior to that, Johnson was a Teach For America corps member and taught high school social studies for three years in Mississippi and Indianapolis. She earned an M.A. in Public History from American University and a B.A. in African and African-American Students from Indiana State University.
