Indianapolis-based Hirons & Co. is transitioning its leadership team. Founder Tom Hirons (pictured) says he will move to a chairmanship role with fewer day-to-day activities, while Jim Parham will take over as chief executive officer. Parham is the former chief operating officer for the company. He will be succeeded in that role by Deana Haworth, a longtime senior vice president at Hirons.

Hirons made the announcement Friday evening during a celebration of the company’s 40th anniversary. During a speech to past and current employees, Hirons said he is proud of the team that has been built during his time.

"As you know, we’re an employee-owned company. There were many reasons for choosing this option. An important one was to create the greatest likelihood that the business would continue to go, that it would continue to grow, and go on to reward all of the people, present and future, who built it," said Hirons. "We have an outstanding team. Each one of them, 50 strong now, and literally hundreds of alumni are very special to all of us. I’m grateful."

During the celebration, State Senator Jim Merritt (R-31) presented Hirons with the Sagamore of the Wabash on behalf of Governor Eric Holcomb. Indianapolis City-County President Vop Osili, Vice President Zach Adamson, and Minority Leader Mike McQuillen also issued a proclamation naming June 29, 2018 "Tom Hirons Day" in Indianapolis.
