Report: Randolph County Manufacturer Lays Off Dozens
A Randolph County employer has laid off 56 workers. The Palladium-Item in Richmond reports the TOA Winchester LLC layoffs took effect immediately last week and the manufacturer now has around 220 employees in Winchester. TOA Vice President of Business Eric Fields told the publication multiple factors played into the "executive decision."
He added the management and departmental structures of the operation were restructured to varying degrees from small-scale changes to being "restructured entirely."
The automotive industry supplier is one of Randolph County’s largest employers and runs a more than 450,000 square-feet operation. The plant was previously owned by Indiana Marujun which, in 2015, pulled out of Winchester. The Pal-Item reports TOA publicly announced it was purchasing the property and equipment in early 2016, adding it anticipated eventually anticipated employing up to 350 in Winchester.
