MIAMI COUNTY -
A Miami County property has received an upgraded development designation. The Grissom South Industrial Park is now Site Certified Prime according to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the highest designation of its kind issued by the state agency. The property, located within the Grissom Aeroplex, includes a multi-million dollar shell building owned by the Miami County Economic Development Authority.
The state's "Prime" tier of shovel-ready development status builds on the "Silver" and "Gold" tiers and includes requirements such as 30 contiguous acres and a location that is no more than 2.5 miles from a state highway. The Miami County property is located near U.S. 31. The MCEDA website lists the sale price of the 57,600 square-foot shell building as nearly $2.8 million.

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has released its list of the Best Places to Work in Indiana. This year's list features 125 companies throughout the state, including more than 40 that were not on the list last year. A bill that would allow for longer sentences for hate crimes is moving forward with a significant change. Our partners at WIBC report the Senate passed an amendment Tuesday that removed the list of individual groups that would be covered under the law. Originally, Senate Bill 12 said a sentence could be lengthened if someone convicted of a crime was found to have deliberately targeted someone based on factors including race, religion, and sexual orientation, among others.
Marketing technology consulting firm Lev has announced plans to relocate its headquarters to Indianapolis. The company, which is currently based in Arizona, says it plans to hire 70 employees this year, part of a previously-announced effort to create up to 175 jobs by 2021.
