On the national stage, he has served as president and currently sits on the board of directors of the Senate Presidents Forum, a national bipartisan organization made up of state senate leaders from every state. Long has been a long-standing leader with the National Conference of State Legislators and currently serves as a member of NCSL’s Executive Committee and as a member of its National Foundation. The NCSL’s mission is to represent the voice of the 50 state legislatures before the Federal Government.
Through his leadership, including 12 years as Indiana Senate President Pro Tempore, Indiana has been recognized for one of the best business climates in the country and has benefitted from balanced budgets and transformational infrastructure projects.
Long earned his law degree from Santa Clara University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Davis.
