Public Funding Approved For IU Building Renovation

Subscribe NowThe Columbus City Council has approved funding to support renovations to the former Republic building in the city’s downtown. The Republic reports The Columbus Redevelopment Commission is now authorized to spend $1 million in tax increment financing for the project.
The building was acquired earlier this year by the IU Foundation and will become the new home of Indiana University’s master of architecture program. The funding is being matched by funds raised by the Columbus Community Education Coalition, according to the publication.
The renovations are set to begin later this month. The IU School of Art, Architecture + Design is set to occupy the building in August and begin offering courses in the degree program this fall.
