The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded multi-million dollar contract extensions to Rolls-Royce Corp. in Indianapolis and South-Bend based AM General LLC. Work on both contracts, totaling nearly $55 million, is expected to be complete in 2017.

Rolls-Royce will receive more than $41 million to provide MissionCare maintenance support for the V-22 aircraft flown by the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force. The engines for the aircraft are manufactured in Indianapolis and the MissionCare support, which provides a number of aftermarket services, including management and engine repair, training and site support, is managed from the company’s Indianapolis offices.

The DOD says 80 percent of the work will be performed in Oakland, California with the remainder taking place in Indianapolis. The Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland is the contracting activity for the Rolls-Royce deal.

AM General will receive more than $13 million for the recapitalization of 70 Humvees as well as inspection and repair services. The contract will also fund the required startup costs for performance at the Red River Army Depot in Texas.

Work for the AM General contract will take place in South Bend and Texarkana, Texas. The Army Contracting Command in Michigan is the contracting activity.
