The University of Notre Dame has appointed John Gohsman chief information officer and vice president for information technology. He most recently served in a similar role at Washington University in St. Louis.

Gohsman will be directing more than 250 employees as CIO and succeeds Ron Kraemer. Gohsman was chosen because of his experience in leading a team to create IT structures for higher education. When he was hired by Washington University in 2013, Gohsman was their first CIO. While he was there, he and his team worked to improve wired and wireless networks on campus, modernize its administrative systems, and create Washington University’s first research infrastructure organization and services.

At Notre Dame, Gohsman will be taking over development of enterprise systems and oversee a governance structure that will plan for the university’s future IT needs.
