Maggie Lewis Maggie Lewis

The Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis has selected Maggie Lewis as chief executive officer and executive director. Lewis, a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council, succeeds Edie Olson, who held the role on an interim basis.

Lewis joins the organization after serving on the public relations staff for Centaur Inc. BGCI says in her new role, Lewis will be responsible for managing the strategic direction of the organization and operations of the clubs.

"Maggie’s unique combination of work in the public, private and nonprofit sectors makes her the ideal candidate to assume leadership of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis as we celebrate 125 years of service to the community," said Rob Hofinger, board chair of BGCI. "She is a passionate advocate for kids, families, and the communities we serve and we are excited to have her leadership to help guide the organization and raise awareness for the important work we do."

Lewis has previous experience with nonprofit organizations. She previously served as executive director of the Dove Recovery House in Indianapolis and chief operating officer of the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation.

This is sobering. A local business broker in Indianapolis reports nine out of 10 business owners who want to sell are turned away. Of the one in 10 that does make it past the first analysis to sell, over half of those company owners don’t get the sale price they hope for or believe the business is worth. Bottom line, hope is not a plan if you want to sell your business.
