An Indianapolis-based nonprofit focused on helping patients recovering from neurological injury find affordable therapy options has won the Brackets For Good Indianapolis tournament. NeuroHope of Indiana raised more than $80,000 to earn the championship title for 2018.

In February, NeuroHope founder Chris Leeuw joined Inside INdiana Business With Gerry Dick to discuss new funding and national recognition for the organization.

Brackets For Good is itself an Indy-based nonprofit that hosts online, bracket-style fundraising tournaments in various markets throughout the country. NeuroHope outlasted Brookside Community Development Corp. in the final round of the Indianapolis tournament with both organizations raising a total of more than $82,000 in the final three days.

"The Brackets for Good tournament brought our supporters out in full force, and most importantly, got them engaged and involved in the process all month long," said Chris Leeuw, executive director of NeuroHope of Indiana. "The donations made to NeuroHope are deeply impactful, as well as the connections we made through first time donors. The entire tournament gave much needed visibility and donor engagement every charity and nonprofit involved."

NeuroHope earned an additional $10,000 to winning the Brackets For Good Indianapolis championship.

Brackets For Good also held its inaugural statewide tournament for Indiana. Plainfield-based Golden Retriever Rescue and Community Education Inc. won the statewide championship by raising nearly $112,000.

Combining all 13 tournaments held this year, Brackets For Good raised nearly $3 million for 605 charities. You can learn more about the tournaments by clicking here.

    • Market Caps: What's in Your Portfolio?

Investors understand the importance of having a proper balance of large-, mid-, and small-cap companies in their stock portfolios. Unfortunately, there are no strict rules followed by index funds when categorizing by company size. When you "check under the hood" of your portfolio, you may discover you’re taking more (or less) risk than you intended! What Is Market Cap? Market capitalization, or market cap, is a term used to represent the size of a company.
