Indianapolis-based tech company Powderkeg is partnering with a Cincinnati-based "startup catalyst" in an effort to attract more funding and talent to the Midwest. Powderkeg, which provides a subscription-based networking platform for tech entrepreneurs, says the partnership with Cintrifuse will help startups and expansion-stage companies compete with larger, coastal tech ecosystems.

Cintrifuse is a public-private partnership that aims to advocate for entrepreneurs leading tech startups. Powderkeg says the combination of the two entities will expand the opportunities for venture capital, high-tech talent, and enterprise and startup customers.

"Combining the resources of our two cities, which already serve as tech powerhouses in their own rights, will attract even more funding and talent from outside of the Midwest," said Matt Hunckler, chief executive officer of Powderkeg. "Investors and founders who previously believed that Silicon Valley is the only option for a tech headquarters have started to realize that they’re dead wrong."

As part of the partnership, Powderkeg members will receive a membership to Cintrifuse and its benefits, such as venture investor curation, funding advice and connections with potential customers. Cintrifuse members will receive a discount to a Powderkeg membership.

Cintrifuse CEO Wendy Lea says the partnership "builds a bridge between our thriving tech community and their national network, allowing us to amplify the momentum we’re already seeing – more capital, more talent, more growth to the region."

The two companies will kick off the partnership with a pair of events: Powderkeg’s Indianapolis Pitch Night on April 25 and Cintrifuse’s Fuse50 Cincinnati conference on May 17.
