Five high-potential Hoosier businesses in a growing corner of the food and ag innovation ecosystem will be in the spotlight Tuesday at Launch Fishers. The Agbiosciences Startup Showcase will feature Carmel-based JUA Technologies International LLC, Aggressively Organic of Fishers, ZeaVaxx LLC at the Purdue Railyard, Bloomington-based The Bee Corp. and West Lafayette-based VinSense. AgriNovus Indiana Senior Director of Talent & Strategy Dan Dawes says about 300 attendees will hear from the entrepreneurs behind their technology that he says are part of a "huge potential" industry.

In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Dawes discussed where the agbiosciences industry stacks up in Indiana. "There’s a number of studies being done and they tend to all point to the fact that the potential for ‘disruption’ in how our food is grown is really significant. Perhaps, the most significant industry available for change, and growth, and innovation," Dawes said.

AgriNovus Indiana and FoundryX, the event’s organizers, say the showcase is geared toward innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, business or civic leaders, researchers, teachers, scientists or students. Registration will begin Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Launch Fishers. The event will run from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The lineup includes presentations titled "A Civic Commitment to Innovation – Why It Matters to Fishers" from Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness and "Innovation Convergence – It’s Happening Here" from Dan Hasler of the Purdue Research Foundation. The showcase, moderated by Greg Deason of the Purdue Foundry, will feature Jua Technologies’ Klein Ileleji, Aggressively Organic’s Jonathan Partlow, ZeaVaxx’s Fangji Lu, The Bee Corp.’s Ellie Symes and VinSense’s David Ebert.
