Indiana and Kentucky transportation officials behind a proposed I-69 bridge over the Ohio River will Tuesday hold the first of six public meetings in April and May. The I-69 ORX Project Team Community Conversations will provide an opportunity to discuss preliminary route alternatives and tolling. Tuesday’s event is set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the C.K. Newsome Community Center in Evansville.

The next meetings will be:

  • Wednesday, April 11, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Henderson (Kentucky) Public Library on Main Street
  • Tuesday, April 17, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Red Bank Library Branch in Evansville
  • Wednesday, April 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Gathering Place Senior Center in Henderson
  • Monday, April 30, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the McCollough Library Branch in Evansville
  • Tuesday, May 1, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Housing Authority of Henderson office on Adams Street

In February, the group took feedback on the project and the three preliminary alternative routes through mail and online surveys. The project was first announced in 2016 by then-Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin. The project team is in the process of gathering information for a federally-mandated Draft Environmental Impact Statement. A preferred alternative is expected in the fall.
