Little BIG Idea Grant Winners Announced

Subscribe NowThe latest round of winners in a signature program of the Vibrant Communities initiative in Elkhart County has been announced. Little BIG Idea Grant recipients include a proposal for a guinea pig as a student therapy animal, an elementary school student’s slime-focused event and creation of a no-bullying club. Organizers of the program say it is designed to "spread love, creativity and community through programs, events and projects that celebrate life in Elkhart County."
Winners can be awarded grants of up to $1,000. The most recent recipients are:
- Delilah Bienz – the 7-year-old Girl Scout and her mother will create affirming and inspirational message posters to be displayed in Bristol
- Lindsey Kroening – the head of Goshen High School’s guidance department will use $750 for a guinea pig that students could pet and interact with during difficult circumstances
- Jalyn Stofleth – the Benton Elementary School student will launch a county-wide event called Shine Through Slime at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds focusing on the non-toxic squishy toy
- Trot Thompson – the Woodview Elementary School student will create a no-bullying club and event featuring a well-known anti-bullying speaker
- Wendy Kovach – the Pierre Moran Middle School teacher and librarian will use the funds to boost makers-space activities at her school
