USF Grad Students to Benefit From New Partnership
The University of Saint Francis has announced a partnership with the Fort Wayne-based Bowen Center related to the university’s clinical mental health counseling graduate program. USF says students enrolled in the program will be able to complete their Practicum in Mental Health Counseling at the facility beginning this fall.
The practicum requires 100 agency hours and a minimum of 40 hours of direct service with clients. USF says once students complete their practicum, they will have the option of continuing at Bowen for their internship and advanced internship in clinical mental health counseling.
The university says the partnership will give students training in assessment, group, counseling, documentation and treatment planning.
"This is an exciting opportunity for our graduate students working to become mental health counselors, as well as for the greater Fort Wayne community," said Lance Richey, dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at USF. "We are pleased to partner with Bowen Center to provide a structured field experience that will equip our students to serve the needs of Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana, not only as they prepare to become counselors but as they grow and develop as skilled mental health professionals."
Bowen Center provides mental health and addiction recovery services throughout north central and northeast Indiana.
