Described as one of the largest robotics events of its kind in the country, 300 teams from K-12 schools throughout the state will compete at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The competition is being hosted by the TechPoint Foundation For Youth, which describes the event as the "Super Bowl of STEM." Teams competing in the championship have to build robots that can complete a specific challenge. This year’s game, called "In The Zone," requires teams to build a robot that can pick up and stack cones, overcome obstacles and move along a field in a race to score the most points in two minutes.
The teams are competing for a spot in the VEX Robotics World Championship, which will take place next month in Louisville, Kentucky.
The event is free and open to the public and will include an interactive STEM fair with hands-on activities for attendees. The opening ceremony for the competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. and qualification matches are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
