POSEY COUNTY -

The Maunie Railroad Bridge in Posey County will receive much-needed improvements thanks to $10 million in federal funding. The grant will be used to rebuild approaches to the bridge that connects southwestern Indiana to Illinois.

U.S. Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and Todd Young (R-IN), joined U.S. Reps. Larry Buschon (IN-08) and John Shimkus of Illinois offered their support for the TIGER grant in a letter to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. Senator Donnelly said, “The Maunie Railroad Bridge is critical to connecting southwest Indiana to markets across our country. I’ve been a proud supporter of this project for many years and am very pleased that this major investment is coming to Posey County where it will benefit the entire region’s economy.”

The bridge was built in 1926 and serves as a link between the area's farmers, refiners, coal miners, and river ports along the Evansville Western Railway. You can read the full letter to Secretary Chao by clicking here.
