Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will be on hand for the beginning of construction on the restaurant, which will be located on the city’s south side.
The 9,000-square-foot location, located on U.S. 31 just south of Stop 11 Road in Indy, follows the opening of the restaurant’s Fishers location, which opened late last year. Portillo’s says the new location will feature drive-through lanes, seasonal outdoor seating and will sell beer.
Another Indiana location is planned for this year in Mishawaka. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Indy location is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
