Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the money is part of the county’s required local match for the nearly $19 million project.
The county still owes more than $1.7 million in inspection fees, nearly $240,000 for the relocation of power lines by Anderson Municipal Light & Power, and a nearly $340,000 fee to the Indiana Department of Transportation, according to the publication. The majority of the project is being funded by a $13.5 million federal TIGER grant, which the county received in 2016.
Work on the project is underway. Madison County engineer Chuck Leser told the publication in December the entire north side of the bridge is expected to be demolished by the end of this month. The entire replacement project is expected to be complete in June 2019.
