Dubois County Site to be Certified Prime
A 72-acre site in Dubois County will later this month receive a key designation. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs will certify the Mobel property in Ferdinand as Indiana Site Certified Prime.
The Prime designation is the highest tier in the Indiana Site Certified program, which designates a site as ready for economic development.
"This is the result of outstanding collaboration between the Town of Ferdinand, landowner Mobel, Inc. and Dubois REC," said Ed Cole, president of Dubois Strong. "Dubois Strong has another great asset to market to site selection professionals, an Indiana Site Certified Prime industrial property."
In order to receive the Prime designation, a site must meet the following criteria:
- Have at least 30 contiguous areas
- Be located no more than 2.5 miles from a state highway
- An archaeological designation must be completed
- The LUG, LEDO or REDO must own the property or an option must be held with the owner
The Mobel site is currently listed for sale for $2.4 million. Dubois Strong, the economic development organization for Dubois County, says the site could be used for mixed-use development, a business park, light manufacturing, or warehousing and distribution.
Officials from OCRA, Dubois Strong and the Town of Ferdinand will be on hand February 23 to officially present the designation at the Ferdinand Town Hall.
