Krieg DeVault has elected Robert Anderson (pictured) to its six-member Executive Committee. He is a long-time partner in the firm’s health care practice and has more than 28 years of legal experience into his new leadership role with the firm. Anderson will be joined by Krieg DeVault Executive Committee members Michael Messaglia (Managing Partner – Indianapolis), Thomas Hutchinson (Partner – Carmel), Libby Yin Goodknight (Partner – Indianapolis), John Baxter (Partner – Carmel), and Robert Schein (Partner – Carmel).

Anderson represents health care providers in all aspects of health care law from general agreements and contracts to advice regarding compliance with fraud and abuse laws and regulations.  In addition, he defends health care providers in medical malpractice litigation. Finally, he has litigated property tax exemptions for not-for-profit institutions.

Stacy Walton Long (pictured) has been named partner. She advises the firm’s healthcare clients regarding security breach incidents and risk assessments involving Protected Health Information and other personal information under HIPAA/HITECH and other Federal and State laws governing the privacy and security of such information. Long represents individual professionals and healthcare providers in licensing and disciplinary matters, and works with mental health providers on confidentiality matters and commitment proceedings. In addition to her health care practice, she represents clients in State and Federal courts in a variety of litigation matters, including tort claims, preservation of mental health records, breach of contract, commercial collections, landlord-tenant disputes, commercial foreclosures, and other commercial disputes. Long has served on the firm’s Diversity Committee since its inception and is actively involved in the daily diversity and inclusion initiatives for the firm. She serves as a Board Member of Executive Women in Healthcare, and serves as a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association (Health & Life Science Executive Committee), Indiana State Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, and American Bar Association.  She received her B.A. from the University of Illinois and received her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law (cum laude).

The firm has also promoted: Nicholas Anderson, Nicole Keith and Brandon Shirley to senior associates.

Anderson focuses his practice in representing businesses with general corporate, federal tax, and financing matters. He previously served as a tax associate for Kutak Rock LLP. Anderson also has experience in tax credit transactions, including New Markets Tax Credit, Low Income Housing Tax Credit, and EB-5 transactions.

Keith is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, where she focuses her expertise in civil litigation. With a background in civil litigation and insurance defense, she has represented insureds, insurance companies and corporations. Keith previously served as an associate attorney at Kopka, Pinkus & Dolin and at Rubino, Ruman, Crosmer & Polen LLC served as an associate attorney and law clerk. During law school, she worked for the Valparaiso University Sports Law Clinic as a case manager, clinic member and arbitration participant.

Also, Shirley is a member of the firm’s Health Care Practice Group. His practice areas include Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement,  government audits, disciplinary sanctions involving Medicare and Medicaid enrolled providers, state surveys and corrective action plans, federal and state regulatory compliance, contract reviews, and Medicaid pharmacy matters. Shirley acquired government and regulatory compliance experience as deputy general counsel and as a staff attorney with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.
