The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded more than $200,000 in grants to nine arts programming providers in Bloomington, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. The grants are part of more than $25 million the NEA is awarding to nonprofits throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

In a news release Wednesday, NEA Chairman Jane Chu said the grants will support the recipients’ ability to bring residents greater access to arts programming.

"It is energizing to see the impact that the arts are making throughout the United States," said Chu. "These NEA-supported projects are good examples of how the arts build stronger and more vibrant communities, improve well-being, prepare our children to succeed, and increase the quality of our lives. At the National Endowment for the Arts, we believe that all people should have access to the joy, opportunities, and connections the arts bring."
