Krieg DeVault has elected long-time Partner Michael Messaglia managing partner. His legal career spans nearly 25 years, beginning when he was hired as an associate at the firm. Messaglia has served in several leadership positions, including in the firm’s Financial Institutions practice and most recently as a member of its Executive Committee. His focus will be to enhance the already-strong footprint of one of Indiana’s largest locally-based law firms.

Over the years, Messaglia, a corporate and banking attorney, has been involved in many of the firm’s largest and most notable merger and acquisition transactions involving both public and private companies, recently serving as lead counsel to Old National Bancorp’s acquisition of St. Paul, Minnesota-based Anchor Bancorp Inc.

He has served as issuer’s counsel in public and private offerings of securities, including Merchants Bancorp’s recent initial public offering, and has also advised financial institutions of all sizes on corporate, bank regulatory and enforcement matters. His legal work will continue in these areas along with the addition of his new responsibilities.

Deborah Daniels, the firm’s former managing partner, will remain a partner, providing counsel to the firm’s public and private sector clients in matters including federal and state regulatory compliance and internal investigations. She authored a landmark 2017 report for USA Gymnastics recommending multiple improvements in the organization’s protection of athletes, will focus her practice significantly on sexual harassment and sexual abuse internal investigations and policy formation.

Messaglia’s awards and recognitions include Indiana Super Lawyers and Chambers USA: Leader In the Field of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions. He received his B.B.A. (Accountancy) and J.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
