Job Cuts Coming to Region Call Centers

Iowa-based Lee Enterprises Inc. (NYSE: LEE), which owns our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana and has a presence in nearly 50 U.S. markets, says nearly 100 employees in Munster and Crown Point will be affected. In a notice to the state, the local news, information and advertising provider says "all other operations for Lee Enterprises and The Times will continue to operate."
Positions affected include: customer service representative, customer service supervisor, call center operations manager and call center analyst. In a fourth quarter earnings report in December, Chief Executive Officer Kevin Mowbray said the company is experiencing a "soft print advertising environment," but is recorded its best year for digital advertising since 2014.
