Indy Companies Among Best For Remote Jobs

INDIANAPOLIS -

Two Indianapolis-based companies are included in the “100 Top Companies with Remote Jobs in 2018” from job search website Flexjobs. The companies are ranked based on the number of remote jobs listed in 2017.

Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) is ranked the highest-ranked Hoosier company on the list at number 26, followed by tech company Appirio at number 36. The list is led by China-based English language-learning services company VIPKID and Australia-based technology services company Appen.

Flexjob says it analyzes the job posting data in its database, which contains flexible job histories for more than 49,000 companies and chooses the 100 companies with that posted the most remote-friendly job openings throughout the year. The website defines "remote-friendly" as jobs that must offer some level of telecommuting. The rankings are based on listings on the site.

      ALOM CEO: Indy 'One of Our Biggest Successes'

      The chief executive officer of California-based ALOM says in the two years since opening a fulfillment and distribution hub in Indianapolis, the facility has been one of the company's biggest successes. The supply chain management company this week cut the ribbon on its expanded 160,000-square-foot facility, which Hannah Kain says will lead to continued growth in Indy. When the project was first announced earlier this year, ALOM said it would increase employment by 25%.

      Red Bull to Discontinue Air Race World Championship

      The Red Bull Air Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, originally scheduled for October, has been canceled as a result of Red Bull's decision to discontinue the Air Race World Championship following the 2019 season. The company says the races scheduled between June and September in Russia, Hungary and Japan will run as planned.
