Elevate Indianapolis has named Aaron Story president and chief executive officer. Story, who most recently served co-director of the Capstone Leadership Initiative in Indy, succeeds Elevate co-founder Jim Shaffer, who stepped down after being appointed to the Indiana Parole Board by Governor Eric Holcomb.

Story founded the Capstone initiative, which serves students at Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He also founded the Indy Metro Church, where he serves as lead pastor.

"The board is excited Aaron will lead Elevate Indianapolis through the next phase of impact and growth," said Steve Cosler, co-founder and board chairman of Elevate Indianapolis. "As evidenced by his experience, Aaron offers unique program excellence and development skills that will serve the organization very well. Most importantly, Aaron has a passion and calling to make a positive difference in the lives of our urban youth."

The nonprofit organization was founded in partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools to provide mentoring and encouragement for K-12 students through in-class instruction, after-school activities and other programs. Elevate currently serves about 250 students at Arsenal Technical High School, Harshman Middle School and Theodore Potter Elementary School with plans to expand to more schools in the future.

Story’s position had been filled on an interim basis by former Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Troy Riggs.
